Case Study: UK Retail Bank – On Prem to GCP Migration
Context:
The Bank Finance MI reports were produced from an On-Prem solution which was out of alignment with the banks “Cloud first” architecture strategy.
Client Challenges:
- No connectivity between the Bank’s Cloud provider (Google GCP) and many of the banks financial data sources.
- Disparate number of data sources, with extensive standardisation and aggregation in place to support current reporting
- Uncertain back-to-front route for data provisioning
Solution:
- A comprehensive suite of data artefacts detailing golden sources, “journeys” from source to legacy analytics and presentation platform
- Specification of and delivery of development to standardise, aggregate and make finance data available for consumption by new CGP platform (using the Looker tool)
- Full pre and post-implementation validation of MI reports using combination of QA and parallel run analysis
Outcomes:
Successful migration of finance reports from On-Prem to GCP platform and onboarding of 160+ users
